MNPL fall date ideas, duos, and cooking at Chez Qu ✈️

🇵🇸 Housekeeping note: It has been a year since Israel has enacted its war of genocide on Palestine and now Lebanon with the full financial support of the US. It would be very meaningful to me and most importantly families in Palestine and Lebanon if you could donate to the following fundraisers.

If you donate more than $100 and email me your receipt, I will offer $100 or more off our time together to show how much your generosity and commitment to justice means to me.

Mutual aid for displaced families in Lebanon

Gofundme for Ghadeer’s family

💗 Minneapolis, thank you so much for the warm welcome back!

Lucky for us, I still have one spot left for a dinner date tomorrow 10/16 <3

Minneapolis, you always know how to seduce me with plans for flirtatious movie and dinner dates, lascivious lunches and thoughtful gifts! It is truly a privilege to get to know the twin cities through your stories and memories :)

💐 If you’re a Minneapolis lover reading this and in the mood to seize the evening, here are some of my dream date ideas

  • 🧵 I am a big textile nerd so I would love nothing more than to visit the Weaver’s Guild Museum during their 30th anniversary celebration! Those who indulge my greatest passions… well let’s say the textiles are hitting the floor in our private post show discussion

  • 🎾 I possess a bravado in pickleball that’s driven by my love of the Challenger’s soundtrack. If you are a bisexual lad with big ears looking for a strong ethnically unambiguous woman to ruin your life, let’s meet at the pickleball courts at Minneapolis Cider Co.

    • And no, I will not be addressing the allegations of cheating and unregulated diversion by wearing mini skirts

  • 🍷 Dinner at Myriel, I’m extremely excited about whole animal butchery, foraged ingredients, and teasing you in a little black dress. I’ll be working a gig as a sous chef for a catering event next November so I would to enhance my culinary vocabulary with your handsome self by my side.

Duos

💋Alexa Eason: Philly based, traveling to Chicago 11/12-15

I’m extremely excited for Alexa Eason to come to Chicago!! When I met her in Philly in May, I fell head over heels for her wit, vivacious laugh, delicious curves, love of the arts and equal love of kink! I would love nothing more than a kinky movie date with all three of us at the Music Box Theater!

🥬 Kurumi Gray, Chicago based

Here we have Kurumi Gray very demurely wearing the very couture, very one off, Josie Qu blanket.

Yes, we are offering duos

AND

Yes, we will all be cuddling under this blanket

Book Chicago’s favorite Asian American hot girl comedy duo for private stand up, or we will call Asian Americans Advancing Justice on you ;)

🍳 Fall Cooking at Chez Qu

It’s been quite a fruitful fall in my kitchen!

Inspired by my travels to Greensboro earlier in September, I made a delicious Southern Chinese fusion-ish lunch of Chinese sour spicy cabbage salad, sugar cured ham and red eye gravy, steamed white rice, and sunny side up farm fresh eggs!

Thank you to a Southern lover for sugar cured ham, you’re the best!!

I’ve used Woks of Life’s recipe for sour spicy cabbage for the past year and DAMN, it’s great.

I had another decadent lunch with pan fried salmon in ginger cilantro soy sauce, turnip greens from Kurumi Gray’s garden that were sauteed in olive oil and butter, and then finished with a squeeze of lemon, and steamed white rice to anchor this vibrant meal.

Finally we have jook for these miserable Chicago fall days when I’m battered by the wind and rain, and need a culinary hug. I topped this bowl of chicken jook with julienned ginger, cilantro, roasted peanuts, fermented bean curd in red rice yeast, and scallions!

Thank you to a certain Boston sweetheart who gifted me the instantpot I used to make this jook

I typically use the following recipes as inspiration for my jook: Daddy lau’s chicken congee and Amy and Jackie’s instant pot chicken congee.

Have a wonderful rest of your fall and I’ll return in two weeks with Boston tour announcements, birthday reflections, and more recipe recommendations!

XOXO

P.S. 💋

I will be working as a sous chef on a gig that I’m extremely excited throughout the first week of November so my first week of November has been spoken for.

I am now booking for late November and December for holiday parties, birthday bashes, and sultry solstice celebrations. Sooo wine and dine me away

(I am asking demurely for dinner at Kasama and Mariah Carey concert tickets pleassseee for my birthday) 💋
