Minneapolis Fall Date Guide

Minneapolis Fall Date Guide

RESTAURANTS

Colita: I love the romantic atmosphere at this delicious Oaxacan inspired barbecue restaurant. I’m aching to bite into their fragrantly spiced lamb barbacoa tacos and sip some cinnamon tepache with friends new and old.

Sanjusan: I love basking in the sunshine of this intimate Italian Japanese restaurant near downtown Minneapolis. Their refreshing panzanella, rich eggplant katsu, and juicy yakitori still haunts my dreams.

Kaiseki Furukawa- Chef Shigeyuki Furukawa serves a formal multi course seasonal menu inspired by the varied traditions of samurai, court, tea ceremony, and temple cuisine. Furukawa is one of the only kaiseki chefs in the Midwest, and I would love to experience his artistry with a fellow food lover.

Owamni by Sioux Chef: Located on the riverwalk, this James Beard award winner restaurant celebrates pre-colonial indigenous cuisine. This restaurant is incredibly important given that the U.S. Department of the Interior in 1883 banned all indigenous traditions especially cooking.

ART, Indoors and Outdoors

Walker Art Center: One of my favorite art museums in the Midwest. I look forward to visiting their silent film collection and viewing David Hockney’s and Kara Walker’s works.  Let’s end our museum day with a round of autumnal mini-golf on their roof with views of the sculptural garden.

James and Mary Laurie Used Bookstore: The sheer variety and depth of the Laurie bookstore rekindled my creative fire! It would be a dream to wander these aisles with a fellow artist… Is it you?

Minneapolis River Parkways: My goal is to bike in every city I tour so I can appreciate the unique beauty of each city! Let’s bike together and experience two of the most beautiful fall sights: 1) fall foilage along the Mississippi river and 2) my toned legs in a mini skirt working the bike pedals.
