DC Summer Date Guide

Hello my DC lovers, can you believe this is my first time experiencing a DC summer? I was warned I’ll already have a plus one, the DC humidity, but there’s definitely room for one more, YOU ;)

So why don’t we make this summer in DC special by creating memories and experiencing all of the unique joys of your city together?

For the design deviants: Did you know that the Hirshorn is called the brutalist donut? As a fan of Everything Everywhere At Once, I prefer to think of it as a brutalist everything bagel.

So what if we found meaning and kissed under the brutalist bagel?

Not a fan of the Hirshorn, but want to savor a kiss under the cool shadows of DC’s brutalist gems? Our self guided tour of DC’s brutalist buildings awaits with this map in your pocket, and your hand around my waist.

For the biker: You’ve been yearning to show DC’s great outdoors to a certain amateur cook with great legs and an earthy laugh… Let’s take the East Potomac Park trail for a leisurely 4 mile bike ride along the Potomac river, and then treat ourselves to a picnic lunch afterwards like complete with champagne, a decadent cheese and charcuterie spread, and flirtatious card games..

For those seeking something a little more strenuous, let’s take the Anacostia Bike Trail from DC to Maryland, and reward ourselves with an early dinner at the District Winery. By the time dessert comes around, I recommend yearning to the temptation of humidity’s collaboration with the soft fabric of my sundress….

For the denizens of flavor town: DC has so many wonderful restaurants, it’s hard to choose one to highlight! I’ve always wanted to learn more about DC’s culinary history, so I would love nothing more to visit Ben’s Chili Bowl for the original smokey spicy half smoke. Afterwards, let’s stroll down the block and melt the evening away with live jazz and scotch flights at Jojo Restaurant and Bar.

For the movie lover: Are you shy and love gushing about movies with a fellow movie lover? Ready to melt away together in a tiny 12 seater movie theater with themed cocktails?

Then what are we waiting for? Let’s write in a date at Sun Cinema in Mount Pleasant now!

I love visiting new indie movie theaters in new cities, and Sun Cinema has an all star schedule during my DC visit (in honor of me I would like to think).

They’re showing Nicholas Cage in Red Rock West, Denzel Washington in Mo’ Better Blues, Devil in a Blue Dress, Lust/Caution, AND 2046.

This is a dream line up, and the only thing better is experiencing these movies with you!

P.S. If you prebook, you might even get to see me in my favorite curve hugging qipao for a screening of 2046….
